The Hoosier Hills: Bloomington - ASQ Section 0923 came into existence in the fall of 1998. Originally, the Bloomington Chamber of Commerce sponsored the Quality Network. This adhoc group was comprised of quality professionals from local manufacturers and the service sector. The objective of this group was to provide mutual support for each other as we progressed through the process of registration to the ISO/QS 9000 standards.
We met monthly to share what each of us was doing with respect to the development of our quality management systems in preparation for our registration audits. As more of the local companies achieved their goals and became certified to ISO 9000 or QS 9000 our interest began to develop in other aspects of the quality discipline.
A core group of the Quality Network members emerged with a goal to provide a support network and educational opportunities related to quality in our communities. The Hoosier Hills: Bloomington Subsection of Section 0920 South-Central Indiana was formed to meet those objectives.
Our Section became a full section of the American Society for Quality on May 18, 2002.
